King George VI Visit to United States 1939 Plate F60

This is a wonderful plate produced to commemorate the visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to the United States in 1939. The plate is quite crazed particularly in the lower half but there are no chips or cracks. The blue and white decoration shows the King and Queen at the top in an oval frame with President Roosevelt in another frame on the opposite side of the rim. The main body of the plate shows Capitol Hill.The rim of the plate has a deep band of oak and laurel leaves. This is a commemorative of an historic event shortly before the 2nd World War when the British Royals went for a state visit to America and while there gained support for Britain in the face of the impending war in Europe.
